Like an inscription on a rock
Which never fades,
Bit by bit, memory flashes back
Fear and loneliness
Become companions that stay
Through the trauma
Of lonely nights and scary days
Then the whisper— end it all
From a scar that will not heal.

Lubabatu Bello Wurno was born at Wurno, Sokoto State. She grew up around Nigeria, daughter of a policeman father always on transfer. She started primary school in Abuja and graduated from the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto with a BA in English Language. She has kids, lives in Kaduna, and is happily married to a policeman.
