Deep within the human heart there lies
A darkness that beclouds so many eyes
Of even those who at sight seem so bright
With a fill of minds with endless night.
It’s evil of the night that lurks in the mind,
It’s in their malice for what they can’t find,
Its roots spread to take a rabid hold,
Its poison to all that was once the gold.
So many for naught suffer,
So many hearts and minds a twisted buffer
So many, pain in fear and endless strife,
So many, in bitter struggle and scuffle through life.
I see flickers of light rising from the dark,
I see a tiny flame yield a glowing spark,
I see that which ignites to light the way,
I see the night turn into a day.
Why not the light, seek then within,
Why not banish all that’s within, dark and grim,
Why not your hearts fill with love,
Why not rise above and soar above?
