Poetry Editor Needed at Barren Magazine | #Apply Now

Here is an opportunity to become the Poetry Editor of Barren Magazine.
It is a Lead Editor position that includes working alongside the Poetry team, other Lead Editors, and the Editor-in-Chief, as well as assisting in the management of a team of Poetry Contributing Editors.

As Poetry Editor, you work with the;

1. Poetry Team (Lead Editor, Contributing Editors, Submissions Manager, EiC) during open reading periods to ensure that all submissions are properly logged and distributed

2. Read and recommend poems that align with the Barren vision (Aesthetic: honest, gritty, emotionally resonant. Mission: pro-diversity, and attempts to lift marginalized and underrepresented voices)

3. Facilitate Poetry Team group discussions regarding submissions

4. Assist with determining final acceptances

5. Respond or delegate responses to submitters with acceptances and declinations

6. Work with accepted authors on poem final edits as applicable

7. Manage team of Poetry Contributing Editors

8. Participate in monthly Boardroom Zoom meetings, etc

QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements for this position are,

1. Passion for reading, writing, and editing Poetry
2. Strong communication skills
3. Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, Google Docs
4. Experience in reading / editing for a literary magazine is strongly preferred, but not required
