the river calls me into dialogue
often to live free and be whole again
scent like fresh fallen rain monologue
in a vast friendship with moon and tide plain
I go to the river to drown my pain
within its white fall, its shores and ember
for a moment I fail to remember
the untoward facets of existence
complete in ebb and flow as a member
of water, wind wave and of persistence
