Konya Shamsrumi Appoints New Curator for Black Poets Series

ABUJA, NIGERIA, October 18, 2024 — Konya Shamsrumi, Africa’s premier poetry-only publishing house, is pleased to announce the appointment of Keyukemi Usani as the new curator for its Black Poets series. Ms. Usani will oversee the weekly panel for the next quarter, starting Monday, 21st, October, 2024. It will be published by 3:00 p.m. Subscribe below:

The Black Poets panel, a weekly feature on Konya Shamsrumi’s website, introduces poets of African origin to new audiences through original biographies and samples of their work. Usani follows in the footsteps of previous curators Richard Ali, author of “The Anguish and Vigilance of Things” (2019), and Star Zahra, known for “Dance of Dawn” (2018).

Keyukemi Usani, an aspiring writer and avid literature enthusiast, is currently pursuing a law degree in Nigeria. “As an aspiring writer, I regard the opportunity to curate the Black Poets panel on Konya Shamsrumi as a huge learning curve in my career development,” Usani said. “Hopefully, it will delight the audience to read as much as it has pleased me to compile. Several amazing poets have already been featured, and I am keen to bring my selection to a new audience.”
