—African Literary Giant’s New Collection Debuts at ANA Convention 2025
Abuja, Nigeria — Abuja-based poetry-only publishing house, Konya Shamsrumi, is proud to announce the publication of Adult Love: Tending the Garden of Small Things, the latest poetry collection by preeminent Nigerian poet Tanure Ojaide.
The book will be available for sale for the very first time at the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Convention, taking place in Abuja from October 30 to November 2, 2025. Copies will be sold exclusively by Kairos Tablets and Scrolls during the convention.
Born in 1948, Tanure Ojaide is one of Africa’s most distinguished poets and literary voices, with a career spanning over five decades. His work engages deeply with themes of environmental justice, cultural memory, and political integrity, rooted in Urhobo aesthetics. With more than 20 books published, Ojaide’s oeuvre includes Children of the Iroko and Other Poems (1973) and the seminal The Fate of the Vulture… (1990). He currently serves as the Frank Porter Graham Professor of Africana Studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
A multiple award-winning author, Ojaide’s accolades include the Commonwealth Poetry Prize (Africa Region), the Wole Soyinka Prize for Literature in Africa, the Nigerian National Order of Merit (NNOM), and the Fonlon-Nichols Award for Excellence in African Writing.
Konya Shamsrumi Publishes Tanure Ojaide’s Adult Love

It would be recalled that Konya Shamsrumi acquired the rights to the collection at a signing ceremony in Abuja. This event took place in August 2025, attended by the Publisher, Richard Ali.
“We are thrilled to bring Adult Love into the world,” said Su’eddie Vershima Agema, Managing Editor of Konya Shamsrumi, about the impending book release. “This collection is a powerful addition to Ojaide’s monumental body of work, and we are honoured that its first public availability will be at the ANA Convention.”
Founded in 2019 by Richard Ali and Umar Abubakar Sidi, Konya Shamsrumi has emerged as a vital platform for contemporary African poetry. Its allied collective includes poets Funmi Gaji, Rasaq Malik Gbolahan, Nasiba Babale, and Ismail Bala Garba. The publisher’s digital platform, www.shamsrumi.org, offers poetry content from Africa and its diaspora, while its Digital Editions chapbook series is curated by poet and critic Carl Terver.
