Between the woman and the blade,
I cannot tell which is older.
But the woman says
“A girl’s body is a volcano waiting to erupt
This cut
Is how we stop the fire
how we save our daughters from burning”
And they cut me
And cut me
And cut
Mama, it’s been years now
Yet every time my lover touches me,
Every time iI bleed
There is hell flaming between my legs.
How, then, have they saved me from burning?
How do I put this fire out?
