THE DAY I MET YOU, LOVE LOST VERSE TO CHEMICAL REACTIONS – ASIYA YAHYA (Day 19 of KSR 31 DAYS OF POETRY)

When love hits, verse in finesse is not always what hits the heart. Sometimes, we let the heart flow in what words come - sometimes, loads of chemical scientific talk since you can feel the chemistry between you two. Not so? Here is another star-gazed lover going all the way from the chemical imbalance of love to its biology and final straight face...do share this and as you do so, we wish you love! SVA

The day I met you,
I knew I found my missing piece.
That moment when you held my gaze,
Piercing into my soul,
Stimulating my brain’s pleasure centre,
Causing dopamine and oxytocin to charged through my brain like lightning,
And my heart to thud.

I love you with every cell in my body,
With every atom that makes up every cell,
And the nucleus and neutrons that make up those atoms.
With all the strange quarks and hadrons,
And what comes after that in my body.

If only you could,
Grab my heart right out of my chest,
Hold it in your hands,
Feel the thrum of my pulse,
Examine it like a surgeon
You’ll see how my heart palpitates for you.
If only I could be a specimen,
Cut me open,
Gaze into a microscope,
Look every microscopic piece of my heart,
You’ll see how my love for you multiplies like mitosis.

What is a 4 letter word?
When what I feel for you,
Is more than this world,
And all that it contains.

Darling, I love you more than life itself!
