#SOBAFest21: First Sokoto Book and Arts Festival



Sokoto Book and Arts Festival (SOBAFest) will be the first ever book and arts festival in Sokoto state. It will bring together home-grown writers, artists, poets, photographers, musicians, dancers, filmmakers, actors and other creatives in the Seat of the Caliphate and environs.



The primary goals of the festival are to promote, develop and celebrate creativity in the state, the country and the African continent through a series of events during the festival.

Some activities to be carried out include:
– Poetry Slam
– Book Reading
– Creative collaborative performances
– Art Exhibition
– Panel Discussions
– Poetry Play

Vision Statement:

To make sustainable impacts that cross-connect traditional and modern innovation in arts and literature.
One that draws the attention of the global space to the excellence of creatives from Sokoto state.

Mission Statement:


1) To create an optimal condition for creative works and performances to thrive and gain visibility.
2) To revive the reading culture of younger generations and spur the older generations to pass on the baton.
3) To foster unity between book lovers and artist in Sokoto State, which aims to introduce collaboration as the new competition.
4) To create an atmosphere where book and art enthusiasts get to enjoy the collaborative efforts of creatives in Sokoto State and beyond.
