The Nigerian spoken word and slam poetry community is set for an unprecedented gathering with the launch of The Slam of Champions Nigeria – a national poetry slam designed to determine Nigeria’s official representative for the 2026 World Poetry Slam Championship in South Africa, hosted by Poetry Africa.
Bringing together winners from festivals and slam circuits across the country, The Slam of Champions will unite the most electrifying voices of a generation on one grand stage – a pulsating celebration of words, rhythm, and performance.
This is more than a competition; it is a movement , a collective stride toward positioning Nigeria as a powerhouse of poetic expression on the global stage.
